How the knife works

I have been doing some searching,  in regards to how I would like to make my hidden knife function, and found a video that highlights the basic principal of how I would like to make the knife work.I am going to lay out some of the points I want my out the front (otf) hidden knife to achieve.

The hidden knife blade should slide in a guide to keep the blade in place and ensure stability.

The guide will be constructed separately from the case that holds the workings of the hidden knife.

The knife should function fully outside of the case and the only function of the case should be aesthetics.

The knife will  have locks to the front and back to hold it either open or closed.

There will be locks on either side of the blade in the open position to ensure it is stable on either side.

The locks will be spring driven to lock, attached to the channels that lead and secure the knife, and able to be disengaged by the mechanism that releases the blade.

There will be a spring to drive the knife forward and back.

The mechanism to drive the spring will release the locks, either releasing the knife to open position or to retract the knife into a closed position.

The lever or switch and spring will be on the side as to reduce thickness and ensure ease of operation when concealed.

The locks and all mechanisms will be of sufficient thickness and material as to not wear quickly.

The overall length (including the case) of my otf hidden knife will not exceed my forearm length to exclude or not impede my wrist or elbow.

The hidden knife should remain just that, hidden. The knife should not show under a normal wear long sleeve shirt, jacket or sweater.

It is not my intention to make a weapon but I like the idea of having a functional item when I am finished. The blade I have to use is of no quality to swing and do battle but I feel that this is not a sword fighting weapon and will be, primarily, used as a stabbing weapon.

This video is a good depiction of how an out the front knife works. I did not make it, it is pulled off of youtube.

This is a quick edit to put up another video that make make the knife tons better! I found this video on youtube as well.

Here is a quote explaining how it works. Basically think of how a locomotives wheels move.

@xXRandomist237Xx “Basically, just cut it smaller haha, I made this one bigger for viewing purposes, but it can be made smaller depending on the distance of the DAOTF switch needs to move to activate the blade, and basically, there’d be an arm on this pulley which connects to the slide, so, as it rotates 180 degrees, it will extend/retract the arm which will activate the mechanism.”

The video is as follows.

The video cannot be shown at the moment. Please try again later.

And yet another video that shows the mechanism that I would like to incorporate into my knife.
